Suffering from Itchy Ant Bites? These Home Remedies Work!

Ants may look like tiny and harmless creatures, but one bite from a fire ant can give you severe burning pains. A fire ant bite itches like crazy and appears as red circles on your skin. They may appear in clusters as well if a group of ants swarms you.

If you are tired of ants biting you and no longer feel safe in your own house, it is time to call pest control Live Oak, TX. Ant bites are painful, and instead of waiting for them to heal on their own, you can try various easy home remedies that are tested to work.

Home remedies for relieving ant bites

  • Baking soda.

Baking soda is a great ingredient for reducing pain related to ant bites. In a bowl, mix one-part baking soda and three parts water to create a paste. Take some paste on your fingers or use a little spatula to spread it on the ant bites. Leave the paste there for at least 10 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. This DIY treatment can reduce the pain and itching; however, the relief is short-lived.

  • Ice cubes.

Ice packs or cold therapy work for various kinds of pain and are a part of many home remedies. Applying ice packs on the bites can effectively reduce inflammation, swelling, and pain. However, remember not to use ice cubes directly on your skin.

  • Apple cider vinegar.

Any kind of acidic liquid can take the burning and stinging sensation out of a fire ant bite. Take apple cider vinegar and mix with some water, then directly apply on the affected areas.

  • Toothpaste.

Toothpaste containing baking soda or mint is equally as effective for relieving pain as a mixture of baking soda and water. The cooling effects of mint and baking soda relieve the pain, but again, the treatment is temporary.

  • Coconut oil.

Coconut oil contains anti-inflammatory properties which have the capability to fight ant venom. Take some coconut oil on your palm and rub it on the inflamed areas to reduce itching and swelling.

  • Honey.

Other than attracting ants, honey can also provide relief from itching and cut down on the redness and swelling. Apply some honey to the itchy areas for quick relief.

  • Aloe vera.

The goodness of aloe vera is endless and used to treat several skin problems. Aloe vera’s cooling properties quickly soothe the pain and itchiness. You may apply raw aloe vera directly on the bites or use store-bought gels.

While there are various methods for getting relief from ant bites, the only method that works the best is removing the culprits from your house once and for all. Call pest control services today if you spot fire ants in your house.
